Oh, thank you, Dan, I can go to bed tonight without feeling bad for the poor actress and her obviously fake sore rear-end!
I guess I have to accept that all the spankings never REALLY happen in ALL the works of fiction I READ as well. My nasty imagination just makes it all up in my pea brain! Silly me! If you think about it, hardly any spankings in real life ever happen either, after-all, you don't see them do you? So all these wining adults that claim their parents beat them with belts years ago are just fooling us, probably for sympathy!
Please, allow my perverted imagination to believe the young lady paid dearly for almost getting expelled from college and that she truly could not sit down afterwards! It is a sitcom, fiction, and I have a right to enjoy it without being told "IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!"
Sorry to poke fun at your point, but I'd rather a "fake" spanking done well, or one that allows my imagination to 'believe it' , say off screen, or fades to black, versus some attempt to make it look real, like in weeds, where the whole thing was too brief and too soft to make the impression she had afterwards! A pillow, laying on her side??? Come-on! Real?
If you saw the spanking in Game of Thrones, it looked real, pathetic, but real. Then, to my horror, they leave you to IMAGINE the young lady's subsequent fate! That was wrong! Powerful, but wrong. Nevertheless, it was the right way to approach that scene! Spanking scenes are often such scenes. The camera, the lighting and angles, and the actresses are poor matches to building a scene in one's imagination. I only have to mention one Kiera Knightly and the horrendous spankings used in that film. Clearly you and I could have imagined much better scenes if the filmmaker had cared to build the scene to the right point and then let us run with it in our imagination.
Oh, and by the way, no real people are ever hurt in the making of FICTION, and though I disagree with your persistence to push for reality in filmmaking, I hope no feelings were hurt
by my wordy rebuttal as well!
As always, I bow to your superior knowledge in the genre, but stand resolute that "fictional" spankings, even in film, are REAL and worth filming or making it seem so!
