As an update. Well it looks like the spanking was deliberately cut from the Joan Davis Channel version of the Draftboard episode. Joan gets about half way over her husband's lap before the scene abruptly ends. The non spanking starts at about 6:45 into the clip which includes the second half of the episode.
This is as close as I've ever come to finding a I Married Joan spanking scene. I have to go back to the tube and look for the others although I'm pretty sure 'The Initiation' is not yet available.

Yes, the scene was edited. I saw the original and she got several swats to the delight of the young couple renting the house! Oh well, it was close! As Dan would say, "It never happened!"

Political Correctness a.k.a PC is one of the biggest scams of modern culture. I recently heard a lecture on the evils of being PC. The lecturer pointed out that a serious amount of atrocities/genocide and suppression of freedoms that occurred in world history were nothing more than extreme forms of PC. They defined PC as the fear of stepping out of the box defining governmental or societal standards in order to prevent dictatorships and censorship. The Film Industry/Hollywood embraces PC on a level far beyond even the fringe political stalwarts while at the same time actively practicing gender discrimination and vaguely masked racism. Hollywood, you should hang your collective head in utter shame for what you now represent.

Applying your comment to the case at hand we have the folks at the Joan Davis Channel deciding that a comedic spanking scene from the mid 20th century is inappropriate viewing for a second decade of the 21st century audience. For me the oddity in this comes from the fact that the spanking was placed at the end of a scene which by today's standards could arguably be considered racist in its portrayal of Asian people, religion and culture. So slant eye makeup, clipped English and other stereotyping gets a pass. But the brilliant Joan Davis and Jim Backus need to be censored because they dared to include a light hearted spousal spanking as part of what was routine slapstick comedy for this show.
